Revision 5
Updated August 5th, 1995
Why?
====
Well, that's pretty simple really. I didn't like any of the existing
proposals, official or not. At the time, it was the triangle featured
on Bj°rn Rybakken's towerdesign that was the official logo. Since then,
about the same time I created my proposal, the currently chosen logo has
been chosen. Yes, I'm talking Bodoni font and a tilted red square.
I have also sent my logo (rev.3) to Gilles Bourdin, who then confirmed
that the Frogdesign (Bodoni & tilted red square ring any bells?) logo
had been chosen. He also told me that although he liked the logo, he
thought it to be a bit too complex for them. I admit that it's more
complex than the text 'AMIGA' with a tilted red square above the 'I',
but at least it features a recognizable symbol; The checkmark. On
another subject, my logo was designed with the intention that it can be
separated, and use the triangle and checkmark alone, or together with
the text 'AMIGA' and 'TECHNOLOGIES'. Using a symbol for marketing,
especially in TV commercials, is very good, and I fear that the
Frogdesign logo doesn't attract very much attention. All in my own
humble opinion, of course.
Creation
========
I've been working for a week or two on a new logo for Amiga
Technologies, the company responsible for the future of the Amiga. Some
weeks ago I made some pencil sketches which I transferred (by hand) to
my trusty Amiga and DPaint. Actually I think it was easier to do it
from scratch than scanning and converting pencil sketches.
It took a while before finding the right font for the 'AMIGA' text, but
CGTimes (size 97) seems to make sense. I had some trouble finding the
correct shape and color scheme for the checkmark, but thanks to the nice
people in the Swedish FidoNet echo R20_AMIGA I've found the right look &
color for the checkmark. Thanks must go to them.
The 'TECHNOLOGIES' text was made entirely by hand (simple font, really)
and since the first attempt, I've changed the width to match the same as
the 'AMIGA' text.
Both the 'AMIGA' and the 'TECHNOLOGIES' texts have also been manually
anti-aliased (not very much, since that tends to make it blurry or
somewhat bold).
Changes to revision 3
=====================
- Changed gradient of the checkmark
- Widened the 'TECHNOLOGIES' text to match the 'AMIGA' text
- Added two more proposals, with the checkmark centered in the logo
Changes to revision 4
=====================
- Redesigned the checkmark, now looks like it should
- Changed the gradient a bit
- Moved the checkmark slightly to the left
- Removed the alternative logo
- Anti-aliased the AMIGA text a bit more
Changes to revision 5
=====================
- Changes in the .readme only
Thanks to...
============
- Mattias Karlsson & Rickard Olsson for their suggestions
- Glenn Bj÷rcken for sending me an IFF of a checkmark
- Henrik Bergstr÷m for dimensions of the checkmark
- The people in R20_AMIGA for all the help you've provided
- The people in comp.sys.amiga.misc for their support
Legal

a settlement. Until such a time, the logo is the legal property of the
